This qualitative art-based research paper investigates love and breakups and how these two affect an individual’s self-concept and identity. This research employs journal entries, poetry, monologues, photos, song lyrics, and academic sources to portray a first-hand experience of a romantic breakup. The autoethnographic account presented here explores my own personal journey through the highs and lows of enduring a breakup and rediscovering my own sense of identity. The overarching goal of this research is to provide a sincere and honest account of a romantic breakup so that it may resonate with a larger audience who has experienced love and heartbreak.
